Mr.Thieman has taught a broad range of under-graduatecourses including general, human, and can-cer biology.He receivedthe Outstanding TeachingAward from the National Biology TeachersAssocia-tion in 1996 and the 1997 and 2000 Student SuccessAwardfrom the California Community CollegesChancellor Office.TheEconomic Development Asso-ciation presented the biotechnologytraining programat Ventura College its 1998 Program forEconomicDevelopment Award for its work with local biotech-nologycompanies.His success at acquiring grants tosupport the program wasrecognized at the NationalCenter for Resource DevelopmentConference in 2007.
