本书对克里斯蒂娜·罗塞蒂的诗歌,小说,散文以及书信等进行了全方位的研究,并从中梳理总结出一个类似于歌剧中的返始咏叹调“ABA’”的范式,即“沉默—发声—沉静”范式,并用这个范式来分析克氏诗作中女性主体对自身境遇和时代变革的反思,从而对克氏诗作有进一步的认识与理解。相较于传统的刻板印象式的女性主义批评,该书不仅对克里斯蒂娜·罗塞蒂的诗作有新认识,同时也对诠释同时代其他女性诗人和作家的作品有启迪意义。
