本书认知语法和实据性理论为指导，以英语附加疑问句为主要研究对象，试图从认知语用学角度探讨附加疑问句发问人的认知状态同这样种疑问问的句法、语义和语用功能之间的影响和作用。该项研究证明，人类普遍的认知规律和特征能够对一些语法结构形式的语法、语义和语用功能之间的内在联系做出比较合理的、全面的解释；语言运用者对相关事态的认知状态能够为语言范畴的建构和运用提供理论上的支撑。 本书共有8章。第一章，简介。第二章，文献概览。第三章，附加疑问句的特征。第四章，附加疑问句说话人认知状态分析。第五章，附加疑问句认知状态的语用化。第六章，附加疑问句认知状态的语法化。第七章，信疑假设理论模型的延伸。第八章，结论。
