21世纪新的公共景观对于激活我们的社会生活同我们居住的物质环境之间的关系将会变得更加必不可少，它的成功部分基于以5点原则。混合式景观：新的公共景观应是一个混合的环境,由不同规则的专业人员合作创造完成，能够反映我们当今社会的综合需求。混合景观由城市规划师、建筑师,景观建筑师,艺术家，植物学家，工程师和产业设计师以及一些其他专业的人士共同来完成。　　各学科的协作为空间提供了有趣的混合式革新,比如建筑和花园的混合,或者雕塑的构造由工程师通过逻辑推算产生,甚至有些雕塑不具有实际功能，只能通过艺术的方式去理解。因此，综合性的混合景观使传统的景观领域更加丰富多彩,并且开辟了试验性的革新道路。
