《中国语境下的系统功能语言学研究》为了全面而客观地反映和评价中国的系统功能语言学研究状况编写的。编者在本研究中采用多种途径收集语料和数据，其中有通过传统的图书馆研究（文献分析）获取的现有文献资料，还有通过问卷调查、访谈收集的比较具有代表性和权威性的第一手资料。结合和比对这3种不同方式获得的研究数据，从多角度、多层次对过去30多年来系统功能语言学在中国功能语言学界的研究状况进行了探讨。
