《老子》是道家的经典著作,相对于“中国人精神生活主食”的儒家经典《论语》,《老子》则被喻为中国人精神生活的“良药”。在生存与竞争的背景下,当人生或人类的本来意义渐渐变得不那么清晰的时候,这样的定义无疑是恰当的。《老子》上篇讲“道”,下篇讲“德”,所以又叫《道德经》。“道”是老子哲学的最高范畴,即事物存在和变化的总规律、推动事物运动和变化的内在力量。“德”则可以理解为“顺道而行”或按“道”的法则去生活,也即老子所主张的“无为”。
