本书选取20部经典原版影片, 每册分别由10部影片组成，构成10个单元，每单元分为四部分，即Part A：观影前准备阶段(Previewing Stage)；Part B：观看影片阶段(Viewing Stage)；Part C： 电影评论阶段(Reviewing Stage)；Part D：观影后拓展阶段(Post-viewing Stage)。每册内容以每周2学时为宜，每两周完成一部影片，共计64学时，可供一学年使用，其中两部影片教师可灵活处理，亦可留作学生自学。《教师参考》书中提供所选影片片段的脚本和参考答案，以便教师备课之用。
