　　Thisbookoncomplexalgebraiccurvesisintendedtobeaccessibletoanythirdyearmathematicsundergraduatewhohasattendedcoursesonalgebra,topologyandcomplexanalysis.ItisanexpandedversionofnoteswrittentoaccompanyalecturecoursegiventothirdyearundergraduatesatOxford.Ithasusuallybeenthecasethatanumberofgraduatestudentshavealsoattendedthecourse,andthelecturenoteshavebeenextendedsomewhatforthesakeofothersintheirposition.Howeverthisnewmaterialisnotintendedtodauntundergraduates,whocansafelyignoreit.TheoriginallecturecourseconsistedofChapters1to5(exceptforsomeof§3.1includingthedefinitionofintersectionmultiplicities)andpartofChapter6,althoughsomeofthecontentsofthesechapters(particularlytheintroductorymaterialinChapter1)wascoveredratherbriefly.
