　　BeforeTibet’speacefulliberationin1951,theregion’seconomicdevelopmentwasminimal,beingoverwhelminglybasedonagricultureandanimalhusbandry.After1951,thereconstructionoftheTibetaneconomywasinitiated.ButuntilthedemocraticreformandsocialistconstructionbeganinTibetin1959,therewasnoindustryoranykindofamoderneconomicstructure.However,duringthepast30yearsofreformandopening-up,theTibetaneconomyhasbeengraduallytransformedfromatraditionaltoamodernone.Inthisprocess,modernindustryhasburgeonedinTibet,whiletraditionalindustryhasbeenrejuvenated.Thisbookgivesabriefintroductiontothisdevelopmentprocess.　　TheGDPofTibetin2007stoodat34.219billionyuan,nearlythreetimesthe11.75billionyuanin2000.Comparedwiththeregion’sGDPin1959(174millionyuan),ithadincreasedbysome59timesifcalculatedatcomparableprices,withanannualgrowthrateof8.9percent.
