SIGHTSEEING① IN LONDON
Worried about the time available②, Zhang Pingyu had made a list of the sites she wanted to see in London③. Her first delight④ was going to the Tower. It was built long ago by the Norman invaders of AD 1066. Fancy!⑤ This solid stone, square tower had remained standing⑥ for one thousand years. Although the buildings had expanded⑦ around it, it remained part of a royal⑧ palace and prison combined. To her great surprise⑨, Zhang Pingyu found the Queen's jewels guarded⑩ by special royal soldiers who, on special occasions⑪, still wore the fourhundredyearold uniform⑫ of the time of Queen Elizabeth Ⅰ.
