Period Five　Writing-Persuasive writing：letter of advice

　　本单元的写作要求是写一封劝告信，属于应用文写作范畴。劝告信的目的是让人们的行为更加合理，对达到某一目的或实现某一愿望更加有利。一般说来，劝告比建议语气更重一些，有时还略带几分强制的意味，像"You'd better..."就属于这一类句型。劝告信可采用"三段式"写法，第一段提出问题；第二段写"三要三不要"；第三段表明自己的看法和期望。

(一)开头常用句式--引出话题

1．I am sorry you have had so much trouble in...

2．You have asked for my advice on...and I will try to make some suggestions.

(二)主体常用句式--提出建议

1．In my opinion，it would be wise for you to take the following action.

2．First of all，...；Meanwhile，...；In addition，...

3．It's important for you to...

4．In the first place，I would also recommend a balanced diet.

5．Why not drink a little，exercise，stop smoking and eat more fruit?

(三)结尾常用句式--提出期望

1．Cheer up！Your troubles will soon be over.

2．Where there is a will，there is a way.

3．Don't lose heart，whatever happens.

4．I will be very glad if you find my suggestions useful.

5．Please let me know if I can help further.
