Radio host: Welcome to the Great Musicians. Today, the

subjects of our programme are three composers who lived in three different

centuries---the eighteenth, the nineteenth

and the twentieth centuries

Two of them are European and one is American. Their names are Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Paul Simon. Before we listen to some of their music, let's just find out a little about them.

Mozart was born in Austria in the eighteenth century. He was truly talented. He composed classical music and had his first piece of music published in seventeen sixty-four at the age of eight, and he composed his first opera at the age of twelve in seventeen sixty-eight.

The next composer on my list is Tchaikovsky. As a classical music composer, he wrote many symphonies and he is famous for writing the music for the ballet Swan Lake. He was Russian and was born in eighteen forty.
