　　 There are three purposes in this reading Period. One is to introduce a great and famous Chinese doctor-Lin Qiaozhi and her career. She was important for women in China because she was the first woman doctor to specialize in gynecology and obstetrics.

　　1. Enable the students to learn and talk about Lin Qiaozhi's story.

　　2. Lead to the students consider their future major and career choices and how they may be arrived at.

　　3.Enable the students to describe a person about her/his appearance, qualities and achievements.

　　1.Develop students' reading skills by extensive reading.

　　2. Let the students learn the way to describe a person.

　　 Step 1 Lead in-Brainstorm about Lin Qiaozhi.

　　T:In this unit we focus on the great women home and abroad. Remember the one we talked about the day before yesterday? What qualities do you think a great woman needs? And do you still remember the six great women we have talked about? (Introduces Lin, show some of her pictures, and, if time permits, play a video about her life)

　　Step 3 Getting the general idea

　　Get the students to read the passage quickly and find out the three great achievements of Lin.

　　Step 4 Scanning and language focus

　　Have students read the passage more carefully and find out the answers to the following questions.

　　Than explain on some language points.

　　(Teacher explain language points with some slides' help.)
