本句中and连接 "The walls ..."和"the Hall ..."两个分句，在前一个分句中，介词in表示"用......"。如：

We must write it in blue ink.

She spoke in a loud voice.

在后一个分句中，"so+形容词+表示结果的(that)从句"意为"如此......以致（因此）......"，large后省略了that。如：

His English was so limited (that) he couldn't understand what the native speakers said.

They were all so tired (that) they could do nothing but sleep.
