1. Compare the difference between didn't need to do and needn't have done in each sentence.

John went to the station with the car to meet Mary, so she didn't need to walk back home.

2. didn't need to do &needn't have done的用法

不相同点是： didn't need to表示那件事不必做而且结果也是那件事的确没有做；而needn't have done表示虽然那件事不必做但结果是已经做了。
