2. Ability goals能力目标

Enable the students to know about newspaper further: what it reports, how it attracts readers, the writing styles and so on by reading three pieces of news.

Study the Reading Strategies and learn to deal with cultural references by finding and comparing the similar expressions.

3. Learning ability goals学能目标

Try to improve the students' reading ability by reading some pieces of news, getting the headlines, using the key words, answering questions and analyzing the writing styles of the news. Get the ability of writing notes about news stories according to wh-clues given.

Read the news and learn to get information from news by skimming over headlines and associating by key words and grasp the main idea. Learn to write notes about news stories.

Enable the Ss to know the different expressions caused by different culture and learn to deal with them according to the ways offered in the Reading Strategies.
