一、 重难点词汇讲解：

　observe vt. 观察，观测 to watch attentively; to notice or to see

　　If you observe a child's behavior, you will find it much more natural than an adult's.

　　observe 表示"观察"时为感官动词，后接不定式作宾语补足语时，to 要省去，但在被动句中要带to 。

　　I observed them enter the bank.

They were observed to enter the bank.

二、 重难点句式讲解和分析：

　1. Although the Silk Road covered a huge distance linking modern day Xi'an with the Middle East and Europe, today one area in particular is associated most closely with the name of Silk Road.

　　丝绸之路连接着现今的西安和中东、欧洲，距离非常遥远，但是今天有一个地区和丝绸之路这一名字的关系尤其密切。

　　linking modern day Xi'an with the Middle East and Europe 为现在分词短语作定语，修饰a huge distance, 相当于定语从句which links modern day Xi'an with the Middle East and Europe.

　　分析：

　　（1）link ...to /with ...连接......和......，把......和......连接起来，把......和......联系起来。

　　The new bridge will link the island to /with the mainland.

　　Our hometown is linked to /with Beijing by the Jingguang Railway.

　　Many people will link dragons to /with the Chinese.

　　（2）in particular 为固定短语，意为"特别，尤其"，在句中一般用作状语。如：

　　He stressed that point in particular.

　　She is good at mathematics in particular.

　　辨析：in particular 与particularly

in particular 作状语常常相当于副词particularly，但副词particularly一般用于句中而不用于句末。如：She is particularly good at sports. 她尤其擅长体育。
