Suggested answers:
5.1. Basketball is one of the safest sports because the players' energy is partly directed upwards, at a 90-degree angle to the ground, and over the heads of the others. So there's less risk of a collision between two players.
5.2. Basketball can be dangerous because when there is an abrupt change of direction in their energy, from vertical to horizontal, there is a real danger of personal injury.
5.3. Joe's a good basketball player despite the fact he was short and stout, with a large belly.
5.4. The referee thought Sackler was badly injured because he howled loudly in pain and fell with his nose bleeding and a cut on his left check and later he lay very still for a moment.
5.5. Sackler will always remember the match because he still has the scar on his face.
6.1. In my opinion, safety is more important. Winning isn't everything. The audience cares more about players' skills. No one likes bleeding. Or I think a fast basketball match is more important because the audience will be very excited to watch a very exciting game. The winners are the heroes on the court. Besides, the winners will be awarded prizes.
6.2. If the referee hadn't interrupted the match, there wouldn't have been a suspension of play. Without the suspension of play, Sackler would not have been injured.
6.3. Any answer can be acceptable.
6.4. To make rules to stop collisions between players.
