T: What did we talk about yesterday?
Ss: The Mona Lisa.
T: Yes. Now who can give us a short introduction to it?
Sa: It was painted by an Italian painter Leonardo da Vinci in the years 1503 ~ 1506. This painting is famous for the mysterious smile on the subject's face and now the Mona Lisa is famous throughout the world.
T: Good. And do you know in Italian history, which period the year 1503 belonged to?
Ss: The Renaissance.
T: You were asked to find information about the Renaissance last period. Now who'd like to say something about it?
S: The term Renaissance is derived from the French word for rebirth, and originally referred to the revival of the values and artistic styles of classical antiquity during that period, especially in Italy.
S: It describes the period of European history from the early 14th to the late 16th century.
T: OK, very good! Now we have known some basic information about the Renaissance. Let's learn something more about other periods and styles related to them. Who can tell me who the most famous knight you have ever known in history is?
Ss: Robin Hood.
T: And we all know that knights belong to a typical period in European history, do you know this period?
S: The Middle Ages, a period from about 1100 to 1500.
T: Yes. And do you know another term which has the same meaning?
S: The parallel word is Medieval.
