However, meanings may differ depending on the nationality of the person to whom you are gesturing.
Thumbsup
As far as most in the Western world are concerned, thumbsup is a positive sign, a signal that everything is okay. It is believed that the positive meaning of thumbsup in the Western countries originated (起源) with World War Ⅱ pilots. However, in certain countries, including many in Latin America, West Africa, Greece, Russia, the Middle East, thumbsup gestures are considered offensive (冒犯性的).
