PartⅣ Teaching procedures

As this minimal lesson is to introduce the topic to the students and to do a bit of preparation for a large learning task and to help the students have a better understanding on friendship

students will be asked to complete some tasks. The teaching procedures are as follows:

Step 1: Leading-in (4minutes)

Because it is the first class in senior high school, so I will make a self-introduction first. Then invite some students to introduce themselves, based on their introductions, raise some questions such as: Do you have any old friends in this new school? Have you made some new friends here? What good qualities should a good friend have?

Step 2:Group work(7minutes)

Dived the students into groups of 4 or 5 students and ask them to discuss what good qualities should a friend have. Then several students will be invited to share their opinion with all the whole class. When they talk about their friends they learn how to express their attitude or views on their friends and friendship. This activity refers to a real situation in their life so the students are supposed to be active and happy.

Step 3: More adjectives to describe a person (4minutes)

After students talk about the personalities I will show some more words which can help them better describe a person.

Step 4: Questionnaire (16minutes)

① Before students do the survey, we will learn the new words in the survey. This part will take up 3 minutes. The purpose is to clear the obstacles so that the student will have no difficulty in finishing the survey.

② Students do the survey. While they do the survey, they can discuss with their desk mates or partners. When they finish, they are required to add up their scores and check the results.

③ Explain each item and make students think about what a good friend should be.

Step5: Group work (10minutes)

Students talk about why friendship is so important with their group mates. After the discussion, students have a deep thinking on friendship. After that, I will present a wonderful poem to explain the topic and give them some tips to maintain their friendship.
