Do you like travelling? My answer is yes. Through travelling we can enjoy beautiful views and broaden our horizons. Though at some spots we may sometimes be ripped off by the local people, we can still get a kick out of it.

　　Because the Three Gorges is being exploited to build the dam, some of its sites will disappear. This summer, I together with one of my colleagues went on a cruise to the Three Gorges by a goods ship. At the dock, we got on the ship and sailed downstream through a hilly region. At the steep edge of the hills, there were some temples surrounded by trees. Because smoking was forbidden in the cabins, we went to the deck to smoke. Meanwhile, we could enjoy a beautiful scenery. We could see some fishermen in the distance. We first went through the Qutang Gorge, which narrows to 350 feet. At Wushan we made a detour to see some smaller gorges. Then we went through Wu Gorge and Xiling Gorge. The Yangtze River was heavy with legends.

　　At the lounge, the guide told us her hometown was in a remote village and it would take her at least a week to go back home. She also told us there is immense mountainous land on both banks of Yangtze River with only small areas of flat plains. The land isn't fertile, so people along it make a living by fishing or tourism. Hearing what she said, I naturally felt sorry for them and decided to offer them some help.

　　为了建大坝，长江三峡正在开发中，有些旅游景点将会消失。今年夏天我和一个同事搭乘一艘货船进行了一次漫游。在码头，我们上了船，然后顺流而下，穿越了一个多山的地区。在陡峭的小山边缘上，有一些绿树环绕的寺庙。因为船舱里禁止吸烟，我们上了甲板一边吸烟一边欣赏美丽的景色。我们可以看到远处有一些渔夫。我们先过了瞿塘峡，峡谷最窄处只有350英尺。在巫山，我们绕了一个道看了几个小峡谷。然后我们穿越了巫峡和西陵峡。关于长江有许多传说。

　　在休息室，导游告诉我们她的家乡在一个遥远的村子，回家至少需要一个星期。她还告诉我们长江两岸有广大的山地，仅有小面积的平坦平原，但土地并不肥沃，所以沿江的人们靠打渔或旅游业为生。听了她的话，我自然为他们感到难过，并决定给予他们一些帮助。
