  1801年,[德]里特(Ritter)发现紫外线。

  (1) 化学作用,荧光效应

  When they are exposed to ultraviolet rays, some chemicals fluoresce(发出荧光)------they emit( 放出)visible light when invisible ultraviolet rays is shone on them. These chemicals are used in security(安全) paints and markers.

  (2) 杀菌消毒

  It is the ultraviolet rays from the sun which cause tanning and produce vitamin D in our skin but over-exposure to ultraviolet can cause skin cancer.

5、X射线(X-rays)

  1895年,[德]伦琴发现X射线。

  穿透能力强

  X-rays are produced when fast moving electrons(电子) strike a metal plate.

6、γ射线(gamma rays)

  Gamma rays are high frequency rays emitted from some radioactive materials.

  定义:无线电波,红外线,可见光,紫外线,X射线,γ射线,都是电磁波,按波长或频率的顺序排列起来,称做电磁波谱。
