Before playing the cassette, ask students to look through the questions in Exercise 3 on Page 36 first. Then, play the cassette and ask students to answer the questions. For the first time, the students just listen, and for the second time, get them listen and write short answers to the questions. Next, students work in pairs comparing their answers. Lastly, check answers with the whole class by pausing the cassette at certain paragraphs or sentences.

T: Before listening, read the questions first, while reading, I do hope you can underline the key words in each question and know exactly what the question is. As usual for the first time, you just listen, and for the second time, write short answers to the questions.

Deal with Ex 4 and Ex 5

T: So far you have already known about Utopia by listening. Would you like to live in More's Utopia? Why or why not? Now, listen to the tape again and write down two things you would like about Utopia and two things you would hate. Fill in the form in Exercise 4.

Play the cassette again for students to listen for things they would like and things they would hate. Then students exchange ideas in pairs and discuss whether they would like to live in More's Utopia and give reasons for and against living there.

A sample of discussion:

S1: I would like to live in More's Utopia. Then I can do what I want to do if I don't go against the law. I can play freely. I needn't get up early if I don't want to. I needn't worry about what to eat tomorrow, what to wear tomorrow and so on.

S2: I don't like it, because I like fashion and changes.

S3: I don't like it, either. I think men and women are equal. Husband shouldn't have authority over their wives. And women have the equal right to be heads of the household.
