The teacher will check the Ss' homework on P74 Ex 3 and ask someone to read their letter in class. After class the teacher will ask the Ss to hand in their homework books.

Today I'm writing to talk about violence on TV. Now some programs on TV such as cartoons and films are full of violence and bad language, which don't suit children watching.

A mother said that one day her two-year-old daughter said suddenly: "I'll kill you!" which frightened her greatly. Later she found that the word came from a cartoon that her daughter liked very much. In her opinion, this will have bad effect to children's development.

A professor from Beijing NormalUniversity said that the continuous violence scenes on TV will cause children to turn hate to acquiescence in the attitude to violence.

However, children have opposite ideas. An eleven-year-old boy said they learned bravery and the spirit of fighting with the bad men from those scenes on TV but not other things.

A resent survey by Beijing Normal University shows that 8.7% of the children trust TV media completely. Others trust it partly. Although it is not as bad as we thought, it's unassailably a serious problem.
