Step Ⅱ Listening

Train the students' listening ability. Play the tape for the students to listen, and ask them to do Activities 1-4 on Page 34. After that, ask the students to work in pairs and check the answers. At last, play the tape again.

T: OK. Let's go on with our listening text. Please open your books at Page 34. Before you listen to the tape, please read the questions fast to find out the listening points. Pay more attention to these important points while listening.

T: Now, I'll play the tape again. Please listen carefully and pay much attention to the important points. While reading, you'd better make notes of the listening points like this.

After listening twice, check the answers and explain some difficult listening points if necessary.

Step Ⅲ Speaking

Encourage the students to talk about table manners according to the listening materials they hear on the tape. Pay more attention to their pronunciation.

T: Now I'd like you to discuss the questions on Page 34 in pairs. Then I'll ask some of you to express your opinions.

Encourage the students to act out the dialogue in class and help them to use the ways they have learned in the listening materials. Divide the students into six groups and allow them to discuss. Then ask some of them to act it out.
