Skimming
Help the students to get the general idea of the passage. Ask them to read fast and find out the answer to the question mentioned below.
T: Read the story as quickly as possible and tell me the answer to the question: What did the king do to save his guest from embarrassment?
After a few minutes.
T: Who can tell me the answer to the question?
S: To save the guest from embarrassment, the king said nothing. Instead, he behaved just as his guest did.
T: Quite right. We should save friends and others from embarrassment in the same way on occasions when people who come from different cultures feel embarrassed.
