The Romantic poets were very interested in nature, and often used it as a theme in their poetry. This is probably why Burns talked about a rose in his famous poem, 'A Red, Red Rose'. He wrote in the same way the Scottish people spoke back then, which explains why the spelling looks rather strange\s\up1(22(22). Note how 'love' is spelt 'luve', how 'well' is spelt 'weel' and how 'go' is spelt 'gang'. The poem was published in 1794 and, like many of Burns's poems, it was intended to be\s\up1(23(23) a song. Burns divided this poem into four short sections consisting of four lines each\s\up1(24(24). These sections in a poem are like paragraphs\s\up1(25(25) in an article. The second and fourth lines of each section rhyme\s\up1(26(26).

Poetry is usually full of symbols, and 'A Red, Red Rose' is no different. With the line 'O my Luve's like a red, red rose', he compares the girl he loves to\s\up1(27(27) a red rose. He goes on to compare her to a song in the lines 'O my Luve's like the melodie\s\up1(28(28)/That's sweetly play'd in tune\s\up1(29(29)!' When he mentions 'the sands o' life' in the third section, he is swearing\s\up1(30(30) that his love will never fade\s\up1(31(31) as long as\s\up1(32(32) he lives. 'Fare thee\s\up1(33(33) weel' in the last section of the poem means 'farewell\s\up1(34(34)', or 'goodbye'. Yet, though he is saying goodbye to his love, he promises to come\s\up1(35(35) to see her again, even if he has to travel ten thousand miles.

\s\up1(22(22)He wrote in the same way ....way属于定语从句,省略了在从句中作方式状语的that或in which;which引导非限制性定语从句,指代整个主句的内容;其中why引导宾语从句,作explains的宾语。
