Step V Ellipsis

Deal with Ex 4.

In spoken English, people often miss out words. Ex 4 will help students practice using ellipsis in speaking. Ask students to work in pairs and say both the shortened and full sentences.

Ask students to work in pairs and cross out the words that could be missed out in the very informal dialogue.

Step VI Speaking

Ask students to work in pairs and talk about imaginary experiences.

T: Please work in pairs. Imagine you have been studying for a few weeks in the UK. Make up a dialogue about your experience, both the good ones and the bad ones. When you make up the dialogue, please refer to the stages on page 14. Remember to show sympathy in the discussion.
