In this part, the teacher guides students to pay particular attention to the reading strategies.

T: Next, one reading strategy will be introduced, which is considered as one of the basic reading skills

 and often used by us. It is called "Sequencing of information", and let us read this part.

* Read the text with gaps to get the general idea and see how it develops.

* Read the sentences before and after the gaps to give you an idea of what the beginning or end of the missing paragraph might refer to.

* Read the missing paragraph and look for these references.

* If a paragraph doesn't seem to fit, you may have made a mistake, so carefully reread each paragraph.

T: We will go through this article and use the strategy to match the five paragraphs (A-E) with gaps 2, 4, 7 and 9 in the article.

Task 2 Synonyms

Task 2 helps students to comprehend the meanings of the words from the context and match them with correct definitions-here we use synonyms.

T: Synonyms refer to words or phrases with the same meaning as another, in the same language, though perhaps with a different style, or technical use. For example, "effects" and "results" in this passage are synonyms. Let's look at Ex.6 on page 39 and do the matching exercise.
