节 Step Three: Language points
(Teacher explain language points with some slides' help.)
1.add up.
Eg. Add up your score and see how many points you get.
add up to 总计 add...to...给......加上...... add to 增加,添加
语境展示:
The number of students adds up to 2,000.
The bad weather added to our difficulties.
Will you add more sugar to the coffee?
2. upset. adj.=unhappy; feeling uncomfortable vt.=make sb. unhappy
Eg. What he had done upset his parents much.
The student feels upset about the result of the first maths test.
3. ignore.
Eg. Don't ignore small mistakes. They may cause big accidents
词性变化:
ignorant adj.无知的,不学无术的; 没有受教育的
They are ignorant but not stupid and will learn quickly.
ignorance n.无知,不学无术;愚昧
Please forgive my ignorance.
4. calm
adj.形容词
The seas were dead calm.
We started our journey on a calm, cloudless day.
v. 动词
She took a few deep breaths to calm himself down.
duan Faced with the difficulty, he calmed down.
5. concern
Eg. What concerns me is our lack of preparation for the change.
My major concern is our lacking of preparation for the change.
短语: be concerned about as far as sb. is concerned
Eg. The experts are concerned about the growth of the world's population.
As far as I am concerned, the price of oil will continue to increase.
6. have got to
7. go through
Eg. Jewish people went through a lot of suffering during the WWII.
It took us a whole week to go through the great forest.
The policeman went through the thief's pocket.
8.set down
Eg. I set down some proverbs in my notebook.
I set down my bag and rested for a while.
The driver set her down at the bus stop.
We had to set down rules for the students.
9. a series of
Eg. A series of new stamps has come out.
There has been a series of car accidents at the crossing.
10. get sth done
get sb to do
get sb/sth doing
11. While walking the dog...
知识拓展:
在when, while, if, unless, though, although, as, once等连词引导的从句中,当从句的主语与
主句的主语一致,或从句主语是it, 且从句中有系动词时,可以省略从句的主语和系动词。
