Step I Lead-in and Pre-reading
T: Good morning/afternoon, everyone!
S: Good morning/afternoon, Sir/Madam!
T: First let's check the answers of the exercises on page 56.
Check the answers with the whole class.
T: What's this?
Show a five yuan note to the students.
S: It's money. Five yuan.
T: Yes. We use money every day. So, where do you usually get the money?
S: From our parents.
T: Usually, we call the money we get from our parents...
S: Pocket money.
T: Good. How much pocket money do you get each month? Who can tell us?
S: I get 300 yuan every month.
S: I get 280.
S: I get 500.
T: OK. With the pocket money, you can buy things you are interested in. What things do you like to spend money on? Discuss the words in exercise 2 on page 12 with your partner. Make a dialogue and talk about how to spend your pocket money.
Then, give the students several minutes to discuss. When they are discussing, walk around the classroom. Make sure every student is active in discussing.
