Compare the tense and the forms of the verbs. The first one uses the present progressive tense and the structure is "am/is/are + doing". The second one uses the past progressive tense and the structure is "was/were + doing". Read the dialogues and the grammar.
T: let's make a dialogue. Ask and answer in pairs.
