Step 1.Warm-up

T：Good morning, girls and boys.

Ss: Good morning, Ms sun.

Teacher shows two pictures,one is a new-born baby,the other is the shenzhou V.then ask "when were you born? what happened when you were born?""Do you know?"

let students discuss,then answer "shenzhouV was sent into space when you were born. "

Step 2．Listen to the tape.(pay attention to the pronunciation)

　 Play the tape,have students look and listen.In order to have them understand the text,teacher asks these following questions:

1. When did Shenzhou V fly into space?

2. How long did he spend when Yang Liwei flew into the space?

3. How did Yang Liwei's son feel about his father?

After work in groups ,then let them answer.

Step 3.Find and explain.

Ss:find the new words and sentences with the past tense

T:explain them.

(such as words: fly -- flew become -- became spend - spent

Sentences: He spent about twenty-one hours in space)

Step 4．Practice

Do more exercises and the activity book about the past tense

Step 4．Summery

Summarize the important and difficult points,and let students write them on the blackboard.

Step 5.Homework

1. Describe the story of Yang Liwei and shenzhou V to your parents in English

2. Introduce yourself with the past tense. In 2003,some students were born,at the same time ,shenzhouV was sent into the space.
